Singulair Information

Singulair is developed in order to decrease the symptoms of asthma (shortness of breath, coughing, wheezing, or chest tightness). This medicine also helps you to control your asthma. Montelukast should not be used when the onset of asthma has already occurred, as it does not provide you the immediate relief. This medicine prevents the onsets when you use it regularly. In order to treat the occurred onset, carry the medicine for this reason with you.

Singulair may also be used in order to ease seasonal allergies.

Read the leaflet carefully. Follow the instructions of your doctor.

Montelukast has to be taken orally, with or without food. Remember the exact time you take your dose every day! If you use tablets, chew them well before swallowing with water. Do not discontinue the therapy when you start feeling better. Complete the prescribed treatment.

Singulair Safety Information

In case of missing a dose of Montelukast, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. Never take a double dose at once. Do not exceed the dosage!

Keep Montelukast safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature, in scope of 15 - 30 degrees C (59 - 86 degrees F). Do not freeze! Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications (even non-prescription!), herbal products or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy! Tell your health care provider if you use tobacco, caffeine, alcohol or illegal drugs. It may affect the therapy.

Inform your health care provider in case you have liver disease; allergic reaction to Montelukast, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives; phenylketonuria; an acute asthma attack; or if you are on corticosteroid therapy (prednisone or inhalers).

Make sure to inform your health care provider if you are pregnant, have plans for the pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Children should be treated cautiously. Consult with your doctor on this matter. Lipitor has been used for children of 2years of age and over. However, you should consult with your doctor first.

Singulair Side Effects

You should immediately contact a doctor in case you notice any signs of the following side effects: flu-like illness; dark brown or yellow urine; a feeling of pins and needles or numbness of arms and legs; easy bruising or bleeding; fever; edema or swelling of the legs or ankles; fatigue or weakness; yellowing of the eyes or skin; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat; difficulty in breathing or swallowing; diarrhea; wheezing or continued coughing; severe stomach pain; seizure or convulsion; vomiting; muscle aches or cramps; skin rash and itching.

The following side effects do not usually need to be reported immediately, but talk to your health care provider if they become continuous or bothersome: indigestion or stomach upset; difficulty sleeping; staggers; cough; hoarseness or sore throat; drowsiness; unusual dreams; muscle aches or cramps; headache; runny nose; nauseal; heartburn.

Inform your health care specialist immediately if your symptoms do not improve, get worse, or if the medicines begins to work less effectively.

Inform a doctor that you use this medicine before receiving any medical or dental care.
