Cipro Information

Cipro is an antibiotic, designed to treat different types of infections of the blood, lungs, ear, skin, bone, brain and stomach. This medicine may also be used to treat certain sexually transmitted diseases.

Ciprofloxacin has to be taken orally, with a glass of water. This preparation works best when taken on an empty stomach, 1 hour before or 2 hours after the meal. However, you may also take it with food.

Ciprofloxacin should not be taken with dairy products (e.g., milk or yogurt) or calcium-fortified juices alone. But you may take Ciprofloxacin with a meal that contains these products.

Avoid simultaneous usage of this medicine with sucralfate, magnesium or aluminum antacids, Videx (Didanosine) chewable or buffered tablets or pediatric powder, or with other preparations containing calcium, iron or zinc. If you have to take any of these products, take Cipro two hours before or six hours after taking listed products.

Do not discontinue the treatment even if you notice improvement. Complete the prescribed therapy.

Cipro Safety Information

In case of missing a dose of Ciprofloxacin, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. Never take a double dose at once. Do not exceed the dosage. In case of overdose seek the medical care immediately!

Keep Ciprofloxacin safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature, below 30 degrees C (86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

Consult with your health care specialist regarding the use in children; they have to be treated extremely cautiously!

Make sure to inform your health care provider in case you have an allergy to any component in Cipro, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives; seizures (convulsions); stomach problems (especially colitis); kidney or liver disease; dehydration.

Talk to your health care provider in case of pregnancy or breast-feeding. Do not start the therapy without seeing your doctor!

Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications (even non-prescription!), herbal products, vitamins, minerals, or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy! Never start or stop any treatment without the approval of your health care provider!

Tell your health care provider if you use tobacco, caffeine, alcohol or illegal drugs. It may affect the therapy.

Cipro Side Effects

Contact your health care provider immediately in case of the following side effects: swelling of the face or neck; increased sensitivity to the sun or ultraviolet light; difficulty breathing; seizures (convulsions); reduced amount of urine; irregular heartbeat, palpitations or chest pain; fever; joint, muscle or tendon pain; skin rash, itching; irregular heartbeat, palpitations or chest pain; severe or watery diarrhea; nervousness, excitability, restlessness; hallucinations; vomiting; unusual pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness.

Call your doctor right away if you develop any allergy (e.g., skin rash, etc.)! If you notice pain, tingling, burning, numbness or weakness, stop taking Ciprofloxacin and contact your healthcare professional immediately.

Consult with your doctor in case you experience pain or swelling of a tendon or around a joint. Discontinue the therapy and talk to your doctor. Let the effected area rest.

Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to this medicine. This medicine may cause sleepiness. Do not stand or sit up quickly in order to avoid staggers and fainting spells, especially if you are an older patient.

Do not stop taking Cipro and inform your doctor if you have difficulty sleeping; dizziness, drowsiness; nausea; diarrhea; or headache.

Inform your health care provider in case you do not notice betterment in a few days.

Do not try to treat severe or watery diarrhea if it occurs. Talk to your health care specialist right away.

Antacids can make Ciprofloxacin ineffective. If you have an upset stomach and want to take an antacid, leave an interval of at least 2 hours since you last took Cipro, or 6 hours before you should take your next dose.

Drink plenty of water while going thru the therapy in order to prevent certain side effects!

Avoid drinks with caffeine in order to prevent problems heart, breathing and some other problems.

Avoid exposure to the sun while treating with this preparation. Wear protective close, use a sunscreen. Avoid sun lamps and tanning booths.

Inform a doctor about this therapy before receiving any medical or dental care.
