Tetracycline Information

Tetracycline is a Tetracycline antibiotic. This medicine inhibits the sensitive bacteria growth by blocking the production of proteins, which are required for its development. The inhibition in bacteria's growth lets the body's effectively destroy them.

Strictly follow your health care provider's instructions.

Take Tetracycline orally. Make sure you take this medicine on an empty stomach, and at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating. Drink a glass (8 oz/240 mL) of water with it. Do not lie down for a half of an hour after taking Tetracycline.

In case you are simultaneously treating with antacids, containing calcium, aluminium, or magnesium; medicines with bismuth, zinc, iron, or sodium bicarbonate; calcium rich foods (e.g., milk, calcium-enriched juices, dairy products), make sure you do not take them within 2 to 3 hours before or after taking Tetracycline.

In order to heal the infection entirely, you should complete the full course of the therapy. Do not discontinue the treatment even in case you notice improvement. If you do not complete the therapy, the bacteria may maintain and become resistant to the treatment.

Long-term or repeated use may lead to second infection. Inform your doctor if signs of a second infection occur. You may need medicine replacement.

Contact your doctor on any matters you are concerned about.

Tetracycline Safety Information

In case of missing a dose of Tetracycline, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Never take a double dose at once. Do not use after the expiration date.

Keep Tetracycline safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature, in scope of 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Short term storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is possible. Keep out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

You should not be using this medicine if you have an allergy to any component of Tetracycline or other Tetracycline antibiotics (e.g., doxycycline); or if you are treating with acitretin or methoxyflurane.

Use Tetracycline with caution. It may cause staggers or blurred vision. These side effects may become worse if you use alcohol or certain drugs. Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to this preparation.

If you experience diarrhea, consult with your doctor as soon as possible. Do not treat it on your own.

Contact with your doctor immediately in case of abdominal pain or cramps or bloody stools.

To prevent pregnancy, use an extra form of birth control (e.g., condoms). Hormonal methods may be affected by the therapy.

You may become more sensitive to sunburn while going thru the therapy. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing in case you cannot avoid being outside for prolonged period of time. Try to avoid the sun, sunlamps, and tanning booths.
