Geodon (Ziprasidone) is designed to heal the symptoms of schizophrenia (such as suspiciousness, hearing or seeing things that do not exist, withdrawal from normal activities, mistaken beliefs, etc). This medicine may also be prescribed in case of certain emotional problems (e.g., bipolar disorder).

Geodon has to be taken orally, with food. Swallow the capsule with a drink of water. This medicine should be taken at the same time each day. It may take a few weeks before you notice betterment.

In case of missing a dose of Ziprasidone, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. Never take a double dose at once. Do not exceed the dosage!
Keep Ziprasidone safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature, in scope of 15 degrees and 30 degrees C (59 degrees and 86 degrees F). Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.
Make sure you inform your health care specialist in case you have a history of head injury; history of breast cancer; previous heart attack or stroke; liver disease; allergic reaction to Ziprasidone, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives; thoughts of suicide; heart disease, including heart failure; diabetes or high blood sugar; irregular heartbeat; difficulty swallowing; seizures (convulsions); seizures (convulsions); low blood pressure; Parkinson's disease; low potassium level in the blood; tardive dyskinesia (uncontrollable movement disorder).
Make sure to inform your health care provider if you are pregnant, have plans for the pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Geodon Side Effects
You should immediately contact a doctor in case you notice any signs of the following side effects: fast or irregular heartbeat or palpitations; difficulty breathing; fainting or falling spells; chest pain; inability to control muscle movements in the face, hands, arms, or legs; prolonged erection; weakness or loss of strength; loss of balance or difficulty walking; change in emotion or behavior such as feeling angry, depressed, or anxious; skin rash or hives; increased need to urinate; increased hunger or thirst; fever; uncontrollable movements or spasms of the face, tongue or mouth; excessive urination; difficulty swallowing; menstrual changes; stiff muscles or jaw; tremor; seizures.
The following side effects do not usually need to be reported immediately, but talk to your health care provider if they become continuous or bothersome: increased sensitivity to the sun; stuffy or runny nose; nausea or vomiting; diarrhea; breast enlargement (men or women); mild staggers; changes in sexual desire or ability; upset stomach; intolerance to heat or cold; constipation; restlessness or need to keep moving; breast milk in women who are not breast-feeding; drowsiness; dry mouth; headache.
Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to this medicine. It may make you dizzy or drowsy. Stand up and sit up slowly to prevent these effects, especially in the morning.
You may become more sensitive to sunburn while going thru the therapy. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing in case you cannot avoid being outside for prolonged period of time. Try to avoid the sun, sunlamps, and tanning booths. Ziprasidone may also change the response of your body to heat or cold. Avoid extreme temperatures (saunas, very hot shower, etc.), do not overheat. Dress warmly when it’s cold.
Drink plenty of water, suck a sugarless hard candy or crushed ice in order to treat the feeling of dry mouth if you get it. If this side effect disturbs you too much, talk to your health care provider.
Make sure you tell a doctor about this medicine in case of any dental or medical care.
