Diovan Information

High blood pressure can damage your kidneys, and may lead to a stroke or heart failure. This medicine helps to control high blood pressure.

Diovan has to be taken orally, with water. You may take this preparation with or without food.

Diovan Safety Information

In case of missing a dose of Valsartan, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. Never take a double dose at once. Do not exceed the dosage. In case of overdose seek the medical care immediately!

Keep Valsartan safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature, in scope of 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

Make sure to inform your health care provider in case you have heart failure; electrolyte imbalance (e.g. low or high levels of potassium in the blood); kidney disease, specifically renal artery stenosis; liver disease; previous swelling of the tongue, face, or lips with difficulty breathing, hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, or tightening of the throat. Tell your health care specialist if you are on any special diet.

Inform your doctor in case you have an allergy to Valsartan, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives.

Consult with your health care specialist before the start of the therapy if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Talk to your doctor also if you have plans for the pregnancy. You should discuss all the risks and benefits with your health care specialist. Talk to your health care provider also if you have plans for the pregnancy. There is a potential for serious side effects to a fetus, particularly in the second or third trimester.

Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications (even non-prescription!), herbal products, vitamins, minerals, or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy! Never start or stop any treatment without the approval of your health care provider!

In particular, tell your health care specialist if you take hawthorn, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (Azilect, Eldepryl, Emsam, Marplan, Nardil, Parnate, Zelapar), potassium salts or potassium supplements, blood pressure medications, water pills (especially potassium-sparing diuretics such as Triamterene or Amiloride), lithium.

Tell your health care provider if you use tobacco, caffeine, alcohol or illegal drugs. It may affect the therapy.

Diovan Side Effects

You should immediately contact a doctor in case you notice any signs of the following side effects: unusual rash; difficulty breathing or swallowing, hoarseness, or tightening of the throat; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, hands, or feet; decreased sexual function; confusion, vertigo, lightheadedness or fainting spells; decreased amount of urine passed; fast or uneven heart beat; palpitations, or chest pain.

The following side effects do not usually need to be reported immediately, but talk to your health care provider if they become continuous or bothersome: headache; cough; nausea or stomach pain; diarrhea; fatigue or tiredness.

Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to this medicine. Do not stand or sit up quickly in order to avoid staggers.

You should check your blood pressure regularly while you are treating with Diovan.

You should visit your health care specialist regularly. Ask your doctor any questions you may have.

Inform a doctor about this therapy before receiving any medical care.
