Lisinopril Information

Lisinopril treats hypertension, but may also be prescribed with other medicine to heal congestive heart disease, or to enhance survival in some patients after a heart attack.

Strictly follow the instructions of your doctor. Do not discontinue the treatment right after you started feeling better. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It may take 2 to 4 weeks before you notice betterment.

Take Lisinopril orally with or without food.

In case of missing a dose of Lisinopril, take your dose on the same day (if you take 1 dose per day). Skip the missed dose if you do not remember until the next day, and follow your regular schedule. Never take a double dose at once. Never exceed the dose. In case of overdose seek the medical attention right away.

Keep Lisinopril safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature. Do not freeze. Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

Necessarily talk to your health care provider before starting or quitting any medicine while treating with Lisinopril. Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with it. In case you take Lisinopril simultaneously with certain drugs you may require additional medical monitoring.

Make sure to tell your health care provider about all your medical conditions.

Do not take Lisinopril if you are allergic to its components or other ACE inhibitors.

You should not be treating with Lisinopril if you experienced problems with unusual swelling of your throat, tongue, face, neck, trunk (angioedema), and lips.

Drink enough liquid while exercising or performing activities where excessive sweating may occur.

Inform the doctor about Lisinopril therapy before receiving any medical or dental care.

You may require some medical tests while treating with this medicine. Make sure to keep all the appointments.

Lisinopril Side Effects

Lisinopril may cause fainting, vertigo, tiredness, weakness, cough, sleepiness, light-headedness, particularly, at the start of the therapy. Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to Lisinopril. Sit up or stand slowly to avoid vertigo. Talk to your doctor if they are too bothersome.

Consult with your doctor immediately in case you experience unusual muscle pain; vomiting, or diarrhea; nausea, or prolonged nausea; a change in the amount of your urine; unusual joint pain; cramps, or weakness; fast or irregular heartbeat; swelling of hands, lips, eyes, throat, legs, face, tongue, or trunk; pain; unusual stomach pain; sore throat; fever; difficulty swallowing or breathing; severe dizziness; severe light-headedness; fainting; hoarseness; chest yellowing of the skin or eyes; darkening of your urine.

The allergy to Lisonopril is rare, but contact with your heath care provider as soon as possible in case you notice any signs of an allergy, such as swelling; severe dizziness, difficulty breathing, rash.

Patients may become more sensitive to sunburn while going thru the therapy. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing in case you cannot avoid being outside for prolonged period of time. Try to avoid the sun, sunlamps, and tanning booths.

Consult with a doctor as soon as possible if you notice tightness in chest; breathing discomfort; swelling of eyelids, face, or lips; or if you develop a rash or hives.

Avoid contacts with patients with infections. Lisinopril may rarely lower the resistance of the body, especially if you have certain health problems (such as kidney problems or collagen vascular disease). Wash your hands to prevent infection.

Children have to be treated with an extreme caution. In children under 6 years the use is not recommended. This medicine should not be used in case of kidney disease. Discuss the risks and the benefits of the usage of this product in children with your health care provider.

Elderly patients can be more sensitive to Lisinopril effects; they should be treating with this product cautiously.

Consult with a doctor immediately in case of pregnancy. You should not be treating with this medicine then! Lisinopril may cause a severe damage in case it's used during the last six months of pregnancy. This medicine has shown to cause fetal and newborn death. Risks and benefits of taking this medication should be closely discussed. The extraction into the breast milk is unknown.

Do not use a salt substitute or other potassium agent without talking to your doctor.

Lisinopril may affect your blood sugar. The patients with diabetes require close monitoring and may need diabetes medicine adjusting.

Consult with your health care provider if any side effects, listed or not, bother you.

Do not share Lisonopril with other, for whom it's not prescribed.
