Remeron Information

The working mechanism of Remeron influences those chemicals in the brain that may cause depression. Remeron induces the activity of norepinephrine and serotonin, which help to control mood. This preparation may also be prescribed for other conditions.

Read the leaflet carefully. Follow the instructions of your doctor. Ask the health care provider any questions you may have about this medicine.

Remeron is usually taken once per day at bedtime. Take the tablet with water. When you take Mirtazapine orally disintegrating tablets (Remeron SolTab), unpack the tablet only when you are ready to use it. Peel back the foil; do not push the tablet thru it. Do not swallow the whole tablet; it will dissolve in your mouth.

The orally disintegrating tablet may contain phenylalanine. Consult with your health care provider before using this form of Mirtazapine in case you have phenylketonuria (PKU).

If you do not notice betterment in few weeks, talk to your health care provider.

Remeron Safety Information

In case of missing a dose of Remeron, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. Never take a double dose at once. Seek immediate medical care in case of overdose. Confusion, fast heart rate, memory problems, sleepiness may be the signs of overdose.

Keep Remeron safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature, in scope of 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

Remeron Side Effects

Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to Mirtazapine. Avoid alcohol usage.

Inform your health care provider in case you have an allergy to any medicines, or if you have seizures or epilepsy; a history of heart attack or stroke; bipolar disorder (manic depression); bipolar disorder; a history of heart attack or stroke; liver or kidney disease; heart disease, including angina (chest pain); a history of drug use or suicidal thoughts.

Seek immediate medical care in case of allergy (swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat; skin rash or hives; difficulty breathing)

In case of pregnancy contact your health care provider immediately! It is not detected whether Remeron will cause harm to the fetus. The extraction into the breast milk has not been studied. Talk to your doctor also if you have plans for the pregnancy, or if you are breast-feeding.

Older patients may be more sensitive to the side effects of this medication.

Inform your health care provider in case you notice signs of worsening. Contact your doctor immediately if you notice anxiety, hyperactive (mentally or physically), panic attacks, trouble sleeping, behaviour changes, mood changes, or in case you become impulsive, agitated, hostile, aggressive, irritable, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), more depressed. Seek medical attention if you have suicidal thoughts!

You may have suicidal thoughts about suicide when you first start taking an antidepressant, especially if you are under 24 years old. You may require close medical monitoring. Visit your health care regularly, while going thru the therapy! Your family members should be informed about how important the changes in the mood may be.

You should immediately contact a doctor in case you notice any signs of the following side effects: feeling like you might pass out; white patches or sores inside your mouth or on your lips; body aches, flu symptoms; fever, chills.

The following side effects do not usually need to be reported immediately, but talk to your health care provider if they become continuous or bothersome: increased appetite, weight gain; constipation; dry mouth; thirst; nausea, stomach pain; drowsiness, staggers; weakness.

Contact your health care specialist if you notice any side effects, listed here or not.

Do not use this medication if you have used an MAO inhibitor within the past 14 days. Dangerous side effects can occur if you take Remeron before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body completely.

Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications, herbal products or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy. Do not start or quit any therapy without having consulted with a doctor first.

Do not share this medicine with others, for whom it has not been prescribed.
