Jahaulderbaum your comments about falmiy courts taking children into foster care are completely false and nowhere near the truth. Mos often and I am speaking as a special education teacher for the past 13 years, it is extremely hard and an unbelievable amount if record keeping, meetings, medical evaluations, nurses and guidance counselor records, and numerous home visits required before a child is removed from their parents. Trust me! I have taught children who were being sexually abused, physically and verbally abused, as well as given drugs and medication and completely uncared for with their hygiene, clothing and nourishment needs being completely neglected. Do you know how awful it is to have to send those children back home every day knowing they are being horribly mistreated? CPS workers have a tough job no doubt however parents often have way more rights making it often difficult to remove them from the home. As for overmedicating it definitely does happen and good caseworkers, foster parents, teachers and doctors typically work together to make sure children are properly medicated if required. The majority of foster children I have worked with who are taking medication have been abused or have genetic psychological disorders that require medication in order to balance out the chemical imbalances withing their nerological development. If not properly medicated these children are truly or can become self destructive due to violent tendencies, emotional outbursts, and even suicidal (may be hard to believe but I have taught three children in foster care who were diagnosed as suicidal between the ages of 8 and 13.) I have to say that often times not enough credit is given to social workers, teachers and foster parents who grow to love these children. Are there horrible foster parents out there just trying to collect a check? Definitely!!!! I have seen some bad ones, but overall the money is not that great especially paychecks for social workers and teachers. People don't take on these jobs to get rich! Lol they truly have a passion for helping those in need.
