Risperdal Information

This medicine has to be taken orally. You may take it with food in order to prevent a stomach irritation.

Do not discontinue the treatment even if you notice improvement. Complete the prescribed therapy.

Take regular Risperidone tablets by mouth. Swallow the regular Risperidone tablets tablets with water. Risperdal® M-tab. disintegrating tablets are made to dissolve in your mouth without water. Do not chew these tablets.

Risperdal Safety Information

In case of missing a dose of Risperdal, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. Never take a double dose at once. Do not exceed the dosage. In case of overdose seek the medical care immediately!

Keep Risperdal safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature, in scope of 15 to 25 degrees C (59 and 77 degrees F). Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications (even non-prescription!), herbal products, vitamins, minerals, or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy! Never start or stop any treatment without the approval of your health care provider! Tell your health care provider if you use tobacco, caffeine, alcohol or illegal drugs. It may affect the therapy.

Make sure to inform your health care provider in case you have difficulty swallowing; liver disease; history of breast cancer; history of brain tumor or head injury; phenylketonuria; seizures; blood disorder or disease; heart disease; diabetes; low blood pressure; dementia; previous heart attack; irregular heartbeat; Parkinson's disease.

Tell your health care provider if you use tobacco, caffeine, alcohol or illegal drugs. It may affect the therapy.

Tell your health care specialist if you have an allergy to Risperdal, other medicines, foods, dyes, or preservatives.

Consult with your health care specialist regarding the use in children, they have to be treated extremely cautiously!

Consult with your health care specialist before the start of the Risperidone therapy if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Talk to your doctor also if you have plans for the pregnancy. You should discuss all the risks and benefits with your health care specialist.

Risperdal Side Effects

You should immediately contact a doctor in case you notice any signs of the following side effects: fast or irregular heartbeat (palpitations); pain in muscles and joints; confusion; stiffness, spasms, trembling; restlessness; increased thirst or hunger; changes in vision; loss of balance;

fainting spells; increased urination.

The following side effects do not usually need to be reported immediately, but talk to your health care provider if they become continuous or bothersome: increased sensitivity to the sun; weight gain; decreased sexual ability; constipation; nausea, vomiting; unusual tiredness; drowsiness or dizziness; stomach pain; stuffy or runny nose, cough; headache; menstrual irregularity; difficulty sleeping; increase or decrease in saliva.

You should inform a doctor about the therapy before receiving any medical or dental care.

Do not discontinue the treatment even if you notice improvement. Complete the prescribed therapy. Your dosage may have to be reduced gradually when you stop the therapy. Ask your health care specialist about this.

Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to Risperidone. Do not stand or sit up quickly in order to avoid staggers or fainting spells. You should not drink alcohol while treating with this medicine.

Visit your doctor regularly in order to monitor your condition. It may take a few weeks before you notice a significant betterment.

Do not treat yourself for colds, diarrhea or allergies. You should consult with your health care provider in order to learn what medicines you can take.

You should contact your doctor as soon as possible if you notice an increased hunger or thirst, or if experience excessive urination. You may have to check your blood sugar level.

Avoid exposure to the sun. Wear protective clothes, use a sunscreen, and wear sunglasses even when it’s cloudy. Avoid tanning booths and beds, do not use sun lamps.
