Aricept Information
Aricept may be prescribed to treat mild and moderate dementia, resulted by Alzheimer's disease. People with dementia usually have lower levels of this chemical, which is important for the processes of memory and ability to think. This preparation may also be prescribed for other health states.
Aricept has to be taken orally, with or without food or milk. Aricept is usually taken at bedtime. Follow the instructions of your health care specialist.
If you use Donepezil orally disintegrating pills, open it when you are ready to use a tablet, and put it into your mouth. Wait until the pill dissolves. After the tablet dissolves completely, drink a glass of water.
Aricept Safety Information
In case of missing a dose of Aricept, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. Never take a double dose at once. Do not exceed the dosage. In case of overdose seek the medical care immediately!
Keep Donepezil safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature. Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.
Make sure to inform your health care provider in case you have an enlarged prostate; seizure disorder such as epilepsy; a history of stomach ulcers; a heart rhythm disorder; obstructive pulmonary disease; urination problems; or asthma.
Make sure you inform a doctor about this therapy before receiving any medical care!
You should not be treating with Aricept if you have an allergy to Donepezil, or any other medicine.
Consult with your health care specialist before the start of the therapy if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Talk to your doctor also if you have plans for the pregnancy. This medicine may be harmful during the pregnancy or breast-feeding! You should discuss all the risks and benefits with your health care specialist.
Aricept Side Effects
Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to this medicine.
Contact your health care provider immediately in case of the following side effects: painful or difficult urination; seizure (black-out or convulsions); black, bloody, or tarry stools; coughing up blood or vomit that looks like blood or coffee grounds. Talk to your doctor as soon as possible if you have an allergic reaction (closing of the throat; breathing discomfort; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; hives).
Inform your doctor if you have muscle cramps; sleep problems (insomnia); nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; feeling of tiredness; or loss of appetite.
Talk to your health care specialist if you have any disturbing feelings.
Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications (even non-prescription!), herbal products, vitamins, minerals, or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy! Never start or stop any treatment without the approval of your health care provider! In particular tell your doctor if you use aspirin or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs); atropine (Donnatal, and others); belladonna; carbamazepine (Tegretol); clidinium (Quarzan); dexamethasone (Decadron); dicyclomine (Bentyl); glycopyrrolate (Robinul); hyoscyamine (Anaspaz, Cystospaz, Levsin, and others); mepenzolate (Cantil); methantheline (Provocholine); methscopolamine (Pamine), scopolamine (Transderm-Scop); phenobarbital (Luminal, Solfoton); phenytoin (Dilantin); propantheline (Pro-Banthine); quinidine (Cardioquin, Quinidex, Quinaglute, others); rifampin (Rifadin, Rifamate, Rifater); or a fungal antibiotic, e.g., ketoconazole (Nizoral), fluconazole (Diflucan), or itraconazole (Sporanox). This is not a complete list of the medicines that may interact with Aricept therapy! Talk to your doctor on this matter!
Do not share your medicine with others, for whom it has not been prescribed.
