Periactin Information

Periactin has to be taken orally. You may take it with food or milk in case to decrease the risk of stomach irritation.

Periactin Safety Information

In case of missing a dose of Cyproheptadine, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. Never take a double dose at once.

Keep Cyproheptadine safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature, or below 40 degrees C (104 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications (even non-prescription!), herbal products or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy!

Make sure to inform your health care provider in case you have liver disease; ulcers or other stomach problems; pain or difficulty passing urine; asthma or chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD); other chronic illness; glaucoma; prostate disease; high blood pressure or heart disease.

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, have plans for the pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

Children have to be treated with extreme caution. Talk to your health care specialist on this matter.

Tell your health care provider if you use tobacco, caffeine, alcohol or illegal drugs. It may affect the therapy.

Periactin Side Effects

Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to Cyproheptadine. Sit up or stand slowly to avoid vertigo and fainting.

Contact your health care provider immediately in case of the following side effects: severe staggers; fainting; blurred vision; seizures (convulsions); irregular heartbeat, palpitations, or chest pain; agitation, excitability, inability to sleep, nervousness (these are more likely in children); pain or difficulty passing urine.

Among the less serious side effects you may notice headache; drowsiness, dizziness; stomach disorder, nausea, vomiting; constipation or diarrhea; appetite loss; dry mouth.

You may feel certain discomfort in case you wear contact lenses. Lubricating drops may help you. If you still have problems with vision, talk to your ophthalmologist.

Inform your health care provider in case you do not notice betterment in one or two days.

If you experience dry mouth, try to drink plenty of water and to chew sugarless gum in order to ease this feeling. You may also suck a hard candy.
