Avodart Information

Avodart is designed in order to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH (prostate enlargement). This medicine alleviates the various urinary symptoms.

The prostate is a part of the male reproductive system, responsible for producing a liquid that forms part of the semen. It’s a chestnut-shaped gland, which completely encloses the upper part of the urethra. That’s why the enlargement of the prostate causes problems with urination. Sometimes the prostate has to be removed surgically. However, Avodart treats the benign prostatic hyperplasia, and may make the surgery unnecessary.

It may take a few months before you notice a significant betterment. Visit your health care provider regularly to monitor your condition.

Dutasteride should be swallowed whole. You may take it with or without food. Take one 0.5-milligram capsule per day.

Avodart Safety Information

In case of missing a dose of Dutasteride, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. Never take a double dose at once. Do not exceed the dosage. In case of overdose seek the medical attention immediately.

Keep Dutasteride safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature. Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

Avodart has not been evaluated for use in children under 18.

Pregnant and breast-feeding women have to avoid the contact with this preparation, as it may be absorbed thru the skin. Once absorbed, this medicine may cause harm to the fetus or an infant.

Avodart Side Effects

Side effects may not be anticipated. Contact your health care provider immediately in case you notice any changes in your intensity.

Consult with your health care specialist in case you notice enlargement of breasts; decreased sex drive; breast tenderness; ejaculation problems; impotence;

You should not be treated with this medicine if you have an allergy to Avodart, or to the similar medicines (e.g., Finasteride (Proscar).

Children and women should not take this medication.

Do not donate blood during the therapy and within a half of a year after you stop it.

Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications (even non-prescription!), herbal products, vitamins, minerals, or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy! Never start or stop any treatment without the approval of your health care provider!

Use Avodart cautiously if you're treating with HIV medicines, such as Ritonavir (Norvir).
