Flomax Information

Flomax is designed in order to treat the benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH (enlarged prostate) symptoms.

Flomax is for use only by men.

The prostate is a part of the male reproductive system, responsible for producing a liquid that forms part of the semen. It’s a chestnut-shaped gland, which completely encloses the upper part of the urethra. That’s why the enlargement of the prostate causes problems with urination. This medicine relaxes the muscles and lets urine flow easily.

Tamsulosin hydrochloride should be taken once per day, 30 minutes after the meal. You should take this medicine at the same time each day. Do not open the capsule; it has to be taken whole. The recommended starting dose of Flomax is 1 capsule (0.4 milligram) per day.

Flomax Safety Information

In case of missing a dose of Flomax, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. If you miss several doses in a row, resume treatment with a dose of 1 capsule per day and consult with your health care provider.

Never take a double dose at once. Do not exceed the dosage. In case of overdose seek the medical care immediately!

Keep Flomax safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature. Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

Flomax Side Effects

Side effects cannot be anticipated. Consult with your health care provider in case of any disturbing side effects.

This medicine may make you dizzy. Do not drive, operate machinery or perform any activities, requiring high level of attention, before you find out your reaction to Tamsulosin hydrochloride.

Consult with your health care specialist if you experience chest pain, cough, weakness, abnormal ejaculation, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, sleepiness, sore throat, nausea, infection, runny nose, sinus problems, back pain.

You should not be taking this medicine in case you have an allergy to any component in it.

Call your health care provider if you develop painful or prolonged erection. This is a very rare side effect.

Inform your health care provider if you take any other medications (even non-prescription!), herbal products, vitamins, minerals, or any supplements as they may interact with this therapy! Never start or stop any treatment without the approval of your health care provider! It is especially important to consult with your health care provider in case you use Cimetidine (Tagamet), Warfarin (Coumadin), Catapres, or other alpha-blockers.
