This medicine is developed in order to treat the benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH (enlarged prostate) symptoms. Finasteride may also be prescribed for baldness and as a preventive measure against prostate cancer. However, Proscar is not an effective treatment for prostate cancer. Check the prostate regularly.

The prostate is a part of the male reproductive system, responsible for producing a liquid that forms part of the semen. It’s a chestnut-shaped gland, which completely encloses the upper part of the urethra. That’s why the enlargement of the prostate causes problems with urination. This medicine relaxes the muscles and lets urine flow easily.

You may notice betterment in a while, but some men need a prolonged treatment before they notice a significant result. It may take a half of a year. It may also happen that this medicine will not give you the expected result even after the year of the therapy.

This medicine should be taken with food or between meals. The recommended dosage is one 5-milligram pill per day.

Proscar Safety Information

In case of missing a dose of Finasteride, take it as soon as you remember to do so. However, if it's about time to take your next dose, skip the missed one and follow your regular schedule. Thus take the next dose when it's time for it. Never take a double dose at once. In case of overdose seek medical attention immediately.

Keep Finasteride safe from heat, moisture, and light. Store this product at room temperature. Keep this product out of the reach of children. Keep safe from pets.

Proscar Side Effects

Side effects cannot be anticipated. Consult with your health care provider in case you notice any disturbing side effects. You may also notice decreased sex drive, impotence, and decreased amount of semen per ejaculation.

No significant drug interactions have been reported.

Women and children should not be treated with this medicine.

Avoid contact with this medicine in case of pregnancy. If the pill is crashed and you touch it, the medicine may be absorbed thru the skin. This preparation is dangerous for the unborn child!

You should not be treated with this medicine if you have an allergy to any component in it.
