Flomax

I have enlarged Prostate. Have been prescribed Tamsulosin Hydrochoride capsuls(over six Months ago)at a hospital which seems to have relieved the urin problem. However the consultant giving me this treatment has at the same time made me fearful for the future and of possible side effects. I am 79 years of age and the doctor told me that based on the number of autopsis carried out on older men it was found a very large number of them had (unknowingly) had prostate cancer in their lives. The consultant also said taking Tamsulosin could cause any future cancer to be of a far more "aggressive" nature. This statement was the immediate cauuse of concern for me and I then asked "How would I know if I had developed this type of Prostate cancer and creating even more worry for me was told "I wouldn't!" I understand that PSA tests can locate "symptoms" of the cancer but the method was neither accurate or even reliable! I was also told that taking this medication was the best of two evils and that Operating for the removal of a malignant Prostate can be a traumatic and even dangerous experience with possibel serious side effects! Initially, having then been informed of all these dangers I felt very reluctant to take this medication but having been told of the alternatives felt I had no alternative but to take the prescribed medication. I am not suffering any side effects of the treatment so far at least but remain fearful!

I have now taken this medication for more than a month. I started suffering swollen tongue, no ejaculation on orgasm, periods of extreme tiredness. But no change to the urine problems.
So I stopped taking them and the above problems ceased.
